My Match profile is up! I’m still getting used to the whole concept of online dating but I have to say it’s not as weird as I thought it’d be. I think I can do this.

I ended up winking back at this guy named Derek (for those of you not familiar with Match.com, “winking” is what you do to show that you’re interested in someone; kinda lame if you ask me, but I’m trying to be positive). He seems like a nice guy and looks cute from the one blurry photo in his profile, but how much can you tell from one photo? It could go either way: he could either look even better in focus or be a complete ogre. Hoping for the former!

After I winked back, I got the following message from Derek:

Thanks for winking back- I loved your profile. I’m new to online dating also and very skeptical. Some of my friends have met significant others on Match so I figured I’d give it a shot. Work is so busy that it’s been tough to develop a social life outside of my college and work friends. How about you: what brings a gorgeous girl like yourself to the online scene? Have you had any dates so far?
-Derek

And my response…

Thanks for the compliment! I hear you completely on the lack of time due to work thing. On nights when I have the energy, I usually go out with friends and don’t really venture out into the crowd of no-name drunken 20/30-somethings. When I do, I’m normally disappointed… I figured  going the online route was the next step. No dates yet. Maybe you’ll be my first…?

No answer yet but we’ll see.  Okay, I’m off to peruse more profiles….
