Guest Blog Post: Online Dating by DecorusMens

This post is from fellow blogger DecorusMens, describing her unfortunate online dating experience. Thanks for sharing and keep ‘em coming!

I joined this online dating site my freshmen year of college. I had been doing a lot of online quizzes and all of them seemed to come from the same site. Therefore, I joined in efforts of just keeping my autobiography of self assessments, which included personality quizzes, sex types, the type of wife I will be, etc. Yes, this sounds absolutely ridiculous but I really wasn’t a social butterfly my first couple of weeks in college.

I attended school having never seen it, never visited and not knowing that there was not much ethnicity. I went through culture shock.

On the up side it made me very aware of my tanning abilities. :) I met this guy online. I should put it, I wrote this guy for a couple of months. His picture presented a young man with a muscular fit.

We decided he was to pick me up and we’d go to Disneyland. I received the call, signal time to get out of my dorm. I walked into the car to realize he was definitely not muscular. But hey, I got a free ticket to Disneyland. He kept going on and on about how attractive I was. He tried to wrap his arm around me, at which point I would initiate a race to the next ride, in order to avoid him.

We didn’t have much to talk about. He pretty much told me that he thought going to college was dumb. I mean he picked me up from there, then told me about this program he joined and how he’ll be rolling in the money. No joke, he said that. It was one of those programs that people buy into and always end up getting screwed from. Usually people learn that in college. He mentioned he had to buy in using his parents’ money. I was just appalled. He then proceeded to tell me people who go to college are wasting their money. I just ignored it.

I couldn’t stand to be with him anymore. I made up an excuse, saying I had a previous engagement and had to be back at a certain time. We left the park, walked to the parking lot only to realize he had forgotten where he parked. We literally walked for about two hours. I was exhausted and upset. I sat down and said, “I’m sitting here and you can find your car.” He gave an embarrassed look at which I felt zero remorse. A couple of cute guys saw me sitting and offered me a ride, I was very tempted but politely declined.

He arrived with the car and finally took me home. He apologized about the car incident. Then he wanted me to meet his family before leaving. I said no. There definitely was no second date.

Wow DecorusMens, what a weirdo. Talk about a sign to stay in school (literally and figuratively)!
